Repeat Exams
Repeating an exam?
No need to panic! Here are some questions you might have.
Q: Help! Do I have to register anywhere for repeat exams?
A: Not at all, you’re automatically entered for any repeats.
Q: When are my repeats?
A: Repeats take place between 29th July and 12th August.
Q: But how do I get my timetable for repeat exams?
A: Your provisional exam timetable will be available through the student portal around mid July.
Q: Okay, do I have to pay for repeat exams?
A: Nope! Repeats are free, but the results are capped unless you have applied for mitigation and been granted a waiver.
Q: Hang on, what’s mitigation?
A: Mitigation refers to external circumstances which may have impacted your result or attendance at an exam – for example, illness, bereavement or COVID. If that’s the case, you can apply for the results cap to be waivered but you must apply within two weeks of receiving your result, and you must provide some supporting documentation.
Q: Right. If I’m struggling, how can I get help with a repeat?
A: Grinds are available at www.grindscentre.com/ucc
Q: Class! But I have more questions, and the answers aren’t here – what should I do?
A: No problem you can contact your Education Officer Stephen O’Riordan at education@uccsu.ie
